July  2016

  1. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  2. The lady in Gold: Anne-Marie O’Connor (Awfully boring book.  Read a few chapters and returned.  Read like a history research paper)

August 2016

  1. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
  2. When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi  This book was well written but really sad and a bit depressing.
  3. The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt  This book is super long but well worth the read.  The characters are beautifully developed and I couldn’t help but want to spend an afternoon drinking tea in Hobie’s kitchen or upholstery shop or spending an afternoon with Popchyk, Theo and Boris.
  4. The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown
  5. Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No by Henry Cloud

September 2016

  1. Dracula by Bram Stoker Vampires without violence, sex or adult themes.  Super interesting to read the original Dracula
  2. The Monument’s Men by Robert M Edsel  Full of interesting information.  Horrible written…read like a poorly written history term paper.  This was written as a “non-fiction” factual rendition and not a historical fiction based on real characters which lead the characters to feel flat, lifeless and impossible to keep track of throughout the story.  The only constantly recognizable character was the lone woman in the story.

October 2016

  1. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes   Lovely written tale without being an expected sappy love story.  Makes you stop to think about what you’d do in a similar situation.
  2. My Life On the Road by Gloria Steinem
  3. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened
  4. Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry (audio book)
